ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Albuquerque police are still trying to get to the bottom of a robbery that left two men shot to death. It happened at a home right near this intersection then spilled outside. Police say the two men who died might have been home invaders and were killed by the homeowners.
Police were called to the scene around 9:45 Monday night for a robbery and possible home invasion that turned into gunfire. When officers got to the scene smoke from the gunfire was still in the air.
One man was found dead, another was taken to the hospital where he died.
Neighbors say it’s the first time something like this has happened. One woman heard the gunshots while she was watching TV.
Police say two people are being questioned right now but they’re not calling them suspects in the shooting. There is a possible suspect but information about that person has not been released.
One man ran and jumped inside a police officer’s patrol car after the gunfire. It’s unclear if he was involved in the incident or if he was just scared by it.
Police say it’s been a very violent Labor Day weekend in Albuquerque. This is the third homicide call they’ve responded to in as many days.
