ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The Lobos opened up their 2015 season with a huge 66-0 victory over Mississippi Valley State, which is the first shut out in the Davie coaching era. They showed that they can be very explosive on the offensive side of the ball, as they racked up 511 total yards, and had a program and Mountain West record tying performance of 8 rushing touchdowns in a single game.
They will need that explosive style of play against Tulsa in their second game of the season. This team will have much more depth in their offense, and the Lobos will need to keep up with them both on offense and defense.
“Number 1 the receiver, number 2 the receiver, number 9 the quarterback, they have a couple running backs, all their offensive line is back. It starts next week. Tulsa has the big receivers, they are going to throw the ball down the field, they are going to be super up tempo,” said Head Coach Bob Davie.
“The focus is on Tulsa now. You know we have to watch them. I am good friends with the quarterback, you know so it’s going to be a shootout,” said UNM QB Lamar Jordan.
The Lobos host Tulsa on Saturday the 12th out at University Stadium. Kick off for that game will be at 6 p.m.
