SANTA FE (KRQE) – Santa Fe city councilors are sponsoring a measure that’ll regulate internet sites that offer rental services. According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, city councilors Joseph Maestas and Peter Ives are behind the push.

They say sites such as Craigslist, VRBO and Air-BNB don’t have to follow the city’s short-term rental ordinance.

That means they’re not paying the $1,000 fee that covers annual inspections. The measure would go through a committee review process before reaching the full city council, possibly later this month. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
