ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A local group is running for a great cause and is inviting everyone to join.

Blue Star Mothers of Albuquerque is hosting the 3rd Annual 5K Remembrance Run. This event will be held on Sunday, September 13 at the Balloon Fiesta Park. Race begins at 8:30am.

All of the fundraising is in support of our military and veterans to send the troops care-packages with include some green chile, Girl Scout Cookies, and candy that has been donated.

Many locations of deployment areas are losing their chow halls and troops are having to turn to MRE’s, Meals Ready to Eat.

In addition to the care-packages, a gift bag is donated to the men and women returning home from deployment and the organization also supports local veteran organizations such as the Henderson House, The NM Veteran’s Memorial, and the Albuquerque Stand-Down, along with others.
