Lobo fans fired up as season starts with big win

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – UNM fans started the game drenched with rain and left it celebrating a big start to the 2015 season.

The Lobos kicked off their fourth year with Bob Davie as head coach with a 66-0 win over the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils. Fans were thrilled with how the season got going and optimistic in the wake of the win.

“We’re gonna be at least 8-3,” said Lobo fan Tim Payne. “We’re gonna be fine and hopefully go to a bowl game.”

The Lobos haven’t been to a bowl since 2007.

“With a performance like this, it’s gonna get everybody’s support in the city,” said Lobo fan Joe Montoya. “Everybody’s gonna recognize that the coach has a great program in place, and I think we’re gonna have a huge turnout going forward.”

Just shy of 22,000 fans showed up to the game. The Lobos take on Tulsa at home next Saturday at 6 pm.
