ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – With Labor Day weekend coming up, there’s no doubt that local parks will be busy and keeping them clean is very important.
There are 288 parks in Albuquerque which makes most residents very close to at least one.
The Parks and Recreation Department wants to remind everyone who is planning on hanging out at a local park to “Pick Up and Pack Out.”
This term asks that park-goers not only pick up their trash, but if a trash can is full to find another to dispose their items.
It is suggested to take your own trash bag with you and to tie it tight to prevent animals from rummaging through it and the wind from carrying it out and spreading trash around.
Jen Samp, Parks and Recreation Marketing Manager, joined KRQE’s This Morning team to discuss how each individual at the park can leave a footprint. Samp hopes that the idea of picking up and packing out will spread throughout the community.
