ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – When it comes to combat sports this could be one of the best years for team Jackson Wink.
“We have never had a 4 or 5 month span like this where we have championship fight after championship fight,” said Greg Jackson. Jackson Wink trained fighters have only lost 1 fight in the past 6 months, overall, and they now of course have 3 title shot bouts before the end of 2015.
John Dodson vs. Demetrious Johnson Sept. 5th, Holly Holm vs. Ronda Rousey November 14th and Donald Cerrone vs. Rafael Dos Anjos. This is just goes to show that this new academy is effective, and this team from Albuquerque knows what they are doing, but Coach Jackson isn’t lighting up the cigars yet.
“To me it’s not an accomplishment. If he have 5 world titles that will be an accomplishment. Getting to the title fights is not an accomplishment to me,”said Coach Jackson.
John Dodson will lead the pack for the Jackson Wink title shot run. He fights Demetrious Johnson in a grudge match for the flyweight title, and the Magician is ready to get things going.
“I got to make sure that I do it right for my team the best way I know how and the only way is by knock out and doing it with the flash and the style. I got to do it with crazy finesse, and just make sure I look amazing doing it,” said John Dodson.
This guy has put in the work both in the gym and out having a kid recently. Dodson has always been proud of his Duke City roots, and believes that he and other local fighters have to keep the tradition on tough fighters alive.
“Well Johnny Tapia, Foster we have done it plenty of times. We have numerous combat sports champs. I guess everyone wants to be a New Mexico native because they already know how we always pump up our chest and we throw blows.”
