ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) –Roosevelt Park visitors are fed up with the continued sexual behavior incidents plaguing the area.
A man shot a picture Wednesday afternoon, claiming two people were having sex right out in the open with families nearby. It’s the second sexual incident in the park in a week.
Last Wednesday, a woman took a picture of a man allegedly fondling himself in front of children. The man was later identified as 35-year-old Jacinth Gallaway. He was arrested Saturday for an outstanding warrant for failing to show up to court for a May indecent exposure case. Police are still determining if they can charge him in connection with the alleged incident captured in the woman’s photo.
Albuquerque Police say the park is patrolled by officers frequently, but they cannot be there 24 hours a day.
“Roosevelt Park is on the radar of every single police officer in the southeast area command. They know where it’s at, they know what goes on there and as they’re able, they attempt to make a trip or two by there each shift,” said APD Officer Tanner Tixier.
Neighbors say they also see people sleeping in the park and panhandling, but in general, the behavior doesn’t feel dangerous, just inappropriate.
