Albuquerque Police ask for help naming new horses

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Department has two new members, but they do not have names yet.

The department is reaching out to the public for name suggestions for the Percheron Draft Horses. They will be trained as the newest members of the Horse Mounted Unit.

One of the horses, a solid brown horse, is two years old. He will not be fully trained until he is about three years old.

The other horse has a white star on his forehead and is four years old. Albuquerque Police say he is mild mannered and is expected to work well around children.

Name suggestions can be left on the Facebook page post by September 18 or tweeted @ABQPolice with #APDHorse.

The five favorite names will be chosen and then the public will be asked to pick the top two names.
