Bernalillo County Courthouse closes Tuesday afternoon

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The Bernalillo County Courthouse was closed on Tuesday afternoon after a “burning odor” was going through the building.

Chief Judge Nan Nash ordered the closure. All offices of the District Court were closed.

Officials say the source of the smell was a melted or burned air conditioning belt. Officials don’t believe there is a health threat.

Employees, visitors and most jurors were sent home as a precaution.

The District Court is expected to reopen on Wednesday morning according to officials.
