FARMINGTON, N.M. (KRQE) – The state’s military order of the Purple Heart has suspended its Farmington chapter after allegations an officer lied about his military record. According to the Farmington Daily Times, David Shrum supposedly claimed to have been awarded several medal but military records show Shrum didn’t earn anything.

The order also says Shrum used his position to get thousands of dollars in community funds to build a trout pond on his property.

The FBI will not say if they’re investigating.

Shrum continues to deny the allegations.
