Pickleball gaining popularity in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The sport of Pickleball is already 50 years old, but it’s finally receiving a lot of recognition with Pickleball courts popping up around the Duke City.

According to the U.S.A. Pickleball Association, it’s a sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. It can be played both indoors and outdoors on a badminton-sized court with a slightly modified tennis net. Players use a paddle similar to that of table tennis and a plastic ball.

There are numerous designated Pickleball courts set up around town by the City of Albuquerque’s Parks & Recreation department. For a complete list, you can visit the city’s webpage. If you’re curious about the sport of Pickleball itself, you can check out the U.S.A. Pickleball Association’s website.
