ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Sheriff’s deputies says a woman was hit by what could be a stray bullet in the South Valley. Deputies say the woman was struck in the abdomen this morning close to Saint Anne’s Catholic Church near Isleta and Arenal.

Witnesses told deputies they heard several shots before realizing the woman had been shot. She was taken to UNM Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Deputies say it is not known if the woman was the target of the shooting or just an innocent victim.

BCSO is investigating.
