2nd annual chile fiesta kicks off Saturday

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – One local event is seeking judges for tasting contest.

The 2nd Annual South Valley Chile Fiesta will be held Saturday, August 29 from noon until 8 p.m. and  is a free event with tasty competitions where local individuals and restaurants will be competing in a Chile and salsa taste-off and event-goers are asked to choose the favorite.

This event has more than just the tasty side, it includes kid’s activities, arts and crafts, food trucks, and even a beer garden.

This is a cash only event. Patrons will need to purchase “Chile Chips” to use at the food and beverage venders and also in the beer garden. Each chip will represent $1.

The South Valley Chile Fiesta is a fundraiser for the South Valley MainStreet, South Valley Economic Development Center, and the Mixing Bowl.

Event parking will be free via Park and Ride from the Old Herrera bus lot at 1140 Sunset Rd. SW. The first bus will leave the lot at 11 a.m. and the last to leave the park will be 9 p.m. Only handicap parking will be permitted on site.
