Air quality alert issued for Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The National Weather Service has issued an air quality alert for the Albuquerque metro area.

Strong winds have pushed smoke from fires in the western United States to the Albuquerque area. Combined with weather patterns this has caused a reduction in both air quality and visibility. The National Weather service is advising that people use their best judgment when participating in outdoor activities.

The Environmental Department’s Air Quality Program issued an alert as well, in effect from 11:00 am, Sunday, August 23 to 10:00 am, Monday, August 24.
