‘Perverse’ Albuquerque sign becomes tourist attraction

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – An eye catching sign in the heart of downtown is receiving attention. Pictures of it are showing up online, turning it into somewhat of a tourist attraction.

Locals said the bold sign has been up for years.

The sign says, “No puking, pissing, panhandling or perversion.”

“It says no perversion, but it’s pretty perverse,” said Bob Kemp.

The sign is written to prohibit people from those actions.

It’s become a recent Albuquerque staple, according to tourists.

“Well, I’m not in DC anymore,” said one woman.

The sign popped up on a road trip blog.

The sign was posted again just last week, on a San Diego news site.

“I’d probably take a picture of it and send it to my friends and say wow this is this funny and insane kind of,” said Sarah Shelton from Colorado.

However, many people living in Albuquerque consider it bad taste.

“I don’t know what you would call it, but it’s kind of gross,” said Kemp.

“I’m just kind of a clean language person,” said another resident.

As for the tourists, they’re getting a good laugh.

“I think it’s funny,” said one tourist.

Like it or not, everyone does seem to agree on one thing.

“I thought it was..what would be the right word…I thought it was rather truthful,” said one man.

The sign is on private property. News 13 contacted the business to learn more about it, but they did not return our calls.
