Chris’ Friday Afternoon Forecast

Heat and storms return for New Mexico this afternoon.   Much of central and northern New Mexico will be feeling the heat while storms will redevelop in the southern half of the state.   Some of the storms could be on the strong side today producing hail and strong wind.   Storm chances will continue to go up for the weekend.   By Saturday, there will be  more moisture to work with so storms will fire over the mountains and drift into lower elevations. A cold front then rolls in late Saturday and this will drop temps for much of New Mexico on Sunday.   This front will also bring a better chance for scattered storms statewide as we close out the weekend.  The moisture won’t hang around for long.   By the middle of next week, another High Pressure system builds.  This means we will be heating up and drying out again.
