Albuquerque officer thanks first responders

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Friday, the city honored the first responders who saved the life of an off duty Albuquerque police officer.

In February, APD officer Raymond Loomis, was riding his motorcycle on I-40 near RIo Grande when he was hit by a car. The driver took off after.

First responders with Albuquerque Ambulance Service saw the accident and helped Loomis before rushing him to the hospital. He has since recovered.

Loomis and his wife were at Friday’s ceremony.

”I want to thank God. He was protecting me by having these people right in my area at the time this went down. Thank you very much,” said Loomis.
