Suspect arrested in fatal southwest Albuquerque stabbing

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Deputies have taken a suspect into custody in connection with a deadly stabbing Tuesday night.

According to a criminal complaint, 50-year-old Michael Gardner went to collect a $14 unpaid debt from a woman near Coors and Bridge.

Deputies say when the two started arguing a man identified as Michael Vialpando intervened. That’s when deputies say Gardner stabbed Vialpando.

Gardner was on probation for several felonies including assault on a peace officer when the incident happened.
