Highland Hornets are a win away from being improved

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – As he starts his second season as the head coach of the Highland Hornets, Stacy Washington is still waiting to celebrate his first victory. The former Lobo football player had a tough first season at Highland as victory eluded the team each week. Washington believes 2015 will be better for his team.

He has a good number of players in the program and team unity is better than it was last year. Washington is hopeful that his team’s mental state is also where it needs to be to win football games this season.

“We had a few athletes last season and we had to use them on both sides of the ball,” ¬†said Washington. “Now we have an offense and defense separately because we do have a little more athleticism but, the biggest thing I think has changed is our mental attitude.”

Highland will start the season against West Mesa August 29.
