‘Water Lady’ getting national attention

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A woman who brings water to a Navajo community 100-miles west of Albuquerque is getting national attention. Darlene Arviso, or the “water lady” as she’s known is a bus driver who also drives a tanker truck full of water out onto the reservation.

Because there’s no running water, many who live there have to conserve and rely on Arviso’s deliveries.

Arviso was profiled as part of a story that aired on CBS Sunday Morning. The story also talks about plans to build a well out on Navajo land to get to water way below the surface.

It is being funded with private donations. For more information on how to donate, click here.
