Man sues St. Vincent hospital after losing eyesight

Christus Saint Vincent Regional Medical Center Ebola Scare

SANTA FE (KRQE) – A man is suing Saint Vincent Regional Medical Center for the loss of his vision. Rory Sumners, 54, from Washington is behind the lawsuit which was filed last week.

He claims he lost sight in one eye because a Christus Saint Vincent surgeon wasn’t available to handle his emergency. Sumners claims he experienced vision problems and went to the hospital in 2012. He says the on-call ophthalmologist was out of town and decided over the phone that Sumners didn’t need an immediate exam.

Sumners says he went blind in his right eye the next day.
