Check it out: ‘Toy library’ comes to Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A new alternative to buying toys is now offered to Albuquerque parents.

There’s now a place where parents can check out a toy, like a library book, and return it when they want another for their child.

Parents say it is great because they don’t have to spend money on toys that kids easily get bored of. They also say that the toys can be a great teaching tool.

“ [Parents] May not know which toys are best for learning for that early childhood development. I think it’s really important to have this available for people to come check out,” said Albuquerque mother, Magen Hansen.

The UNM Cariño Early Childhood Toy and Lending Library is located in the South Valley on Isleta, south of Bridge.

Outside the library, there’s an interactive play garden for families to check out as well. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
