SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) — Australia’s Matt Jones made two birdies after the resumption of the second round of the PGA Championship this morning, and finds himself the halfway leader.
The 34-year-old Jones completed a 7-under 65 in the weather-delayed major, to reach 11 under par.
That gives him a two-shot lead over fellow Aussie Jason Day, who regularly contends in majors, but has yet to win one.
Justin Rose made par on the 18th to complete his round of 67 and was three shots behind.
Masters and U.S. Open champion Jordan Spieth (SPEETH) starts the third round five off the pace after completing a 67 Friday.
Tiger Woods is heading home after his 73 wasn’t good enough to make the cut. It’s the first time in Woods’ career he’s failed to play on the weekend in three straight majors.
Third-round play is underway.
