Stinking Garlic Festival kicks off Saturday in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – It’s a two day festival that will have celebrating one of the healthiest foods around.

The Stinking Garlic Festival begins Saturday, August 15. At 11 a.m., Nutritionist Detria Branch will be discussing the health benefits adding garlic into your diet. At 11:30 Master Gardener, Loren Meinz, will teach those interested in how to grow garlic successfully in New Mexico.

At noon, the ‘You Stink Competition’ will begin. The winner of this will receive a trophy filled with Mints and Tums.

The following day, Sunday, August 16, Herbologist, Wendy Crockett will talk about garlic as a herb.

The whole weekend you can find garlic foods, garlic gifts and crafts from the vendors.

Head down to the Idalia Road Market Place, located one-half mile north of Northern Blvd on Idalia Rd in Rio Rancho.
