ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A top Albuquerque school official is not at work due to a “personal issue.”

A district spokesperson confirms Chief Financial Officer Don Moya is on paid leave. According to an article from NMPolitical.com, there is some controversy surrounding a text message Moya received from Albuquerque Public Schools Superintendent Luis Valentino.

According to the article, it appears Valentino thought he was texting the State Education Secretary instead of Moya. The article says the Valentino’s message said “he was going after Moya.”

Moya has been with Albuquerque Public Schools for five years.
