ANTIOCH, Tenn. (AP) — Police in Tennessee say a man who attacked a movie theater Wednesday had “significant” psychological issues.
Police say 29-year-old Vincente David Montano was armed with a hatchet and pellet gun when he unleashed pepper spray on the audience inside the movie theater in Antioch.
A SWAT team shot Montano dead as he tried to escape out a back door.
The attacker was carrying a backpack on his chest and was wearing a surgical mask, possibly to protect himself from the pepper spray he unleashed in large amounts during the showing of “Mad Max: Fury Road,” Nashville Police spokesman Don Aaron said. He said three people were blasted with the spray and treated.
