Man sentenced for violating federal firearms laws

HOBBS, N.M. (KRQE) – The father of a former Hobbs gun shop owner will be spending time in jail for violating federal firearm laws.

Carlos Cruz is an ex-employee of Hobbs Satellite Company Guns and Ammo. Cruz was sentenced to 18 months in prison for making false statements in connection with firearm sales.

Cruz’s wife was sentenced last week to three years of supervised release and the couple’s son was sentenced in February to a year in federal prison. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
