Man carjacks, barricades himself in couple’s home, pleads not guilty

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A man accused of carjacking a driver and then getting into a standoff with police pleaded not guilty.

According to police, officers surrounded an elderly couple’s apartment near Louisana and Zuni where 21-year-old Justin Brouillette was hiding. The couple was able to escape.

Police originally pulled him over for not having a license plate and then he fired at police and rammed a car. After hitting the car, he tried carjacking the person inside.

He is now indicted on federal carjacking and vehicle theft.
