Gang member pleads not guilty to Downtown Albuquerque shooting

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Michael Ponce is accused of shooting another man near a downtown night club and then leading officers on a high speed chase. The 38-year-old man is pleading not guilty to these charges.

According to police, it began when a fight broke out inside Lotus Night Club. A man was found shot and bleeding in an alley when police saw Ponce speeding away in an SUV. During the pursuit, he was blowing through stop signs and they saw him.

Ponce stopped eventually.

Ponce was later found to be a Burqueno gang member who was on federal probation for drug trafficking and aggravated assault charges.
