It was another day of record heat across New Mexico, but there is some relief from the heat as the monsoon moisture returns! Thursday, Carlsbad and Roswell broke their record high temperatures by topping out in the triple digits. Albuquerque came within just two degrees of the record by topping out at 98° (100° 1910 Thursday’s Record High)! The heat will continue for at least one more day before the monsoon flow kicks in over the weekend. A bulk of the moisture is still sitting in Arizona, this moisture will be moving east into central and western New Mexico over the next few days. Western New Mexico will have a shot for rain first on Friday then the moisture spreads into central and eastern New Mexico over the weekend. The added moisture will give us some relief from the extreme for a few days at least. The rain chances will continue into Tuesday before another area of high pressure builds over the Land of Enchantment by mid-week drying us out once again.
