BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (KRQE, WIAT) – According to WIAT News, a patient has been admitted to a hospital in Alabama after experiencing “Ebola-like symptoms.”
Dr. Ed Kahn, Jefferson County Medical Director of Disease Control says the patient was admitted on Tuesday after recently returning from Africa. Health officials say they had been monitoring the patient since they were visiting a country with active Ebola cases.
The patient called emergency responders after showing symptoms. The patient along with the six firefighters that responded to the call and two of the patient’s family members are in isolation and are being tested.
The patient isn’t being identified at this time. Doctors say that the patient is at low-risk for Ebola and they didn’t have contact with any cases of it.
Officials say test results are expected to come in on Wednesday.
