LOS RANCHOS DE ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – People all over the world are celebrating Breastfeeding Week and here in Albuquerque they’re doing it with the Chocolate Boob Awards.

The Dar a Luz Birth and Health Center will honor the mothers who donated the most breast milk.

The center has been collecting breast milk since April 2013. Since then it has received more than 51,000 ounces.

The donations are sent to the Denver Milk Bank for premature and sick babies.

“There’s a lot of stigma behind breastfeeding, especially in public or at work, or even pumping at work. So events like this normalize it and also help build a wonderful community,” said Carly Nowicki, of Dar a Luz Birth and Health Center.

The birth center is holding events all week.
