APD releases lapel video without including arrest footage

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A new video was released Wednesday, a month after APD says a man shot at police, caused a crash and then tried to carjack the victim of that crash.

The lapel video shows police surrounding an apartment near Louisiana and Zuni where 21-year-old Justin Brouillette was hiding.

He was originally pulled over for not having a license plate, but then fired at police and took off. Police say he rammed a car and then tried to carjack the person inside it. When that didn’t work, he forced his way into an elderly couple’s apartment. The couple was able to escape.

Later, the woman gave police the clothes Brouillette left behind. He had changed outfits as he tried to get away.

After looking through hours of lapel video, News 13 did not find anything that showed the traffic stop where police say Brouillette fired or a video of police arresting him.

KRQE News 13 asked APD and they responded that they would answer back tomorrow.

Brouillette faces federal charges for carjacking and having a gun.
