Missing Roswell Girl

Residents Fear Neighbor

Residents at an Uptown condo complex are terrified of one of their neighbors. They said he repeatedly threatened to kill them from jail and now that he’s gotten out, they’re afraid he will make good on those threats.

David Shaykin has an extensive criminal history, including his arrest a year ago for aggravated assault. The complex got a 90-day restraining order and Shaykin had been sitting in jail ever since.
Marcy Britton said the DA’s office led her to believe Shaykin would be there for years to come. She was shocked when Shaykin’s case had been dismissed and he was released from jail. The DA’s office says the problem was the new “case management order” that went into effect in Feburary. Officials said they plan on re-filiing charges against Shaykin soon.

Rail Runner Tracks Damaged by Floods

Crews have been working all weekend to repair the Rail Runner tracks before Monday. Flash flooding caused the Rail Runner to suspend service this weekend. The tracks just north of Algodones were washed out Friday night. Officials say about 100 feet of track on the bridge at Arroyo Maria Chavez was impacted. The flash flooding also postponed the Rails, Trails, and Ales Brew Tour kick- off event that was scheduled for Saturday. However, the event will be rescheduled.
