Wildfire near Soccorro

SOCORRO, N.M. (KRQE) – A wildfire burning south of Socorro is 60 percent contained. About 700 acres have burned and it’s threatening nearby cultural sites.

The fire started Sunday near Fort Craig.

Fire crews say it has flared up at times, but has calmed down since Wednesday night.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
