Police: Woman arrested in connection to murder of Alamogordo woman

ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (KRQE) – Around 11 a.m. on Thursday police responded to a call regarding shots fired at a home on Dexter Lane. Erica Castillo was found dead from a single gunshot wound.

Castillo’s roommate, 27-year-old Lydia Mendez, was arrested and charged with an open count of murder.

According to police, an argument between the two led to the shooting.

The investigation is still ongoing.
