New Mexico officer plead guilty to arson charges

TUCUMCARI, N.M. (KRQE)– A former Tucumcari police officer and another man pleaded guilty to setting abandoned buildings on fire.

Back in September, Dustin Lopez and his co-defendant Robert Sandoval set an abandoned home on fire.

While fire crews were working the blaze the two went to a vacant motel and burned it to the ground.

Lopez and Sandoval accepted a plea deal and will serve five years.
