State Police continue Eddy County shooting investigation

EDDY COUNTY (KRQE) – State Police are investigating a police shooting in Eddy County.

It happened Wednesday at around 4:30 in the afternoon.

Investigators say deputies from Eddy County and officers from the Carlsbad Police Department initiated a pursuit after a man they were trying to pull over fled. At one point, the law enforcement officers shot at the suspect hitting him near county Road 41 and US 2-85.

He was injured, but should recover. Police did later find a gun near the suspect.

Investigators haven’t said if the suspect fired shots at any point.
