Officials: McKinley County Sheriff investigating jail incident

McKINLEY COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – Officials are now investigating an “incident” at the McKinley jail involving inmates.

While information is limited at this time, the McKinley County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that a fire alarm was set off at about 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. They said this resulted in a situation involving inmates in one of the pods.

Officials say that law enforcement responded but left shortly after.
