DA drops ammunition case against former officer

ESPANOLA, N.M. (KRQE) – The District Attorney that oversees Española says she’s dropping the case against a former police officer. Solomon Romero supposedly sent bullets from the police department to an apparel company in exchange for T-shirts.

An independent investigator says the ammunition was supposed to go to an Albuquerque gun store for new pistols for the department.

The DA’s Office dropped the case saying there’s evidence a superior gave Romero permission to do whatever he wanted with the ammunition. Romero resigned about a week before he was charged.
