Michelle Obabma’s activity program comes to New Mexico

Obama Program

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Local kids have a new incentive to go outside.

Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move! Outside” program has arrived in New Mexico bringing with it money to fund outdoor initiatives.

Among the groups benefiting is the YMCA. They’ll get $5 million to coordinate such projects. Other groups, like the Rocky Mountain Youth Corps, are also getting money to create jobs. The people hired will manage trails in national monuments.

The kids in the program gave a demonstration of what kind of work they’re doing this summer. They dug up tumbleweeds and raked trails in the Bosque.
