Hobbs police officer honored after saving baby’s life

HOBBS, N.M. (KRQE) – A Hobbs police officer is being honored for saving the life of a baby.

Officer Royal Hopper, known as “RP”, was called to a home last month because two week old Luisa Magana was not breathing. Hopper flipped the baby and started performing CPR and was able to dislodge milk that was in her throat.

The county commission presented Officer Hopper with the lifesaving award on Monday.
