Stolen car spotted in Carlsbad, chase ends in fiery crash

CARLSBAD, N.M. (KRQE) – Police say a stolen car from Albuquerque made it all the way to Carlsbad, and when police tried to pull the driver over, he made a run for it that ended badly. It happened at San Jose Boulevard and Fiesta Drive in Carlsbad Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the driver fled after the car erupted in flames and ran to a trailer park. They took the driver to the hospital and treated his injuries.

Police are waiting on the results of a blood test because they suspect he was drunk. Other charges may be tacked on depending on the outcome of the investigation.
