Roswell officer receives rare award for saving a woman from house fire

ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – Officer Christopher King is one of 18 people nationwide to receive the Carnegie medal for heroism.

Last year King responded to a house fire. He could hear a woman calling for help inside the home that was already full of flames and heavy smoke. He was able to locate the woman and take her to safety.

King had to be taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
