5 new state laws that go into effect July 1, 2015

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – New laws are set to go into effect July 1st including charges for revenge porn and another for Amber Alerts.

Revenge Porn:

A new law adds criminal charges for revenge porn making it illegal to send out sensitive, private messaged to the public without the sender’ permission.

Breweries and Wineries:

New Mexico breweries and wineries will now be able to sell products from other breweries and wineries.

Amber Alerts:

Your cell phone carrier is now required to send you a free text message is there is an Amber Alert in your area.

Drivers Education Insurance Reduction Age

The minimum age for drivers to take a driving class to get their insurance lowered has been reduced from 55 years of age to 50.

Forfeiture Act:

Effective July 1st, the concept of civil asset forfeiture is now gone. Property can only be seized after a criminal conviction and the money from the sale of abandoned or forfeited property must go to the general fund.
