Attorney: Woman charged in Rio Rancho officer’s murder diagnosed with PTSD

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – In court Monday, Tabitha Littles’ attorney told the judge she was not in the right state of mind for her hearing.

“Ms. Littles has recently been diagnosed with PTSD,” said Attorney Barry Porter in court.

Littles is charged with the murder of Rio Rancho Officer Greg Benner. Prosecutors said she didn’t do anything to keep her boyfriend Andrew Romero from gunning down the officer during a traffic stop. They also said she didn’t warn the officer about the ambush.

Littles was in court on Monday in Albuquerque for a probation violation hearing in cases unrelated to the shooting. It’s there where her attorney asked for an extension because of her new diagnosis.

“We want to make sure she’s on the right medicine before we proceed,” said Porter in court.

KRQE News 13 spoke with Porter, he said Littles now has post-traumatic stress disorder from being held at gun point, pushed out of a car, and then witnessing the deadly shooting of an officer.

The judge on Monday granted the extension at her probation hearing.

Her hearing is rescheduled for July 21. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
