Remains of WWII veteran returning to US

SANTA FE (KRQE) – The remains of a World War II veteran are coming home. According to the Santa Fe New Mexican the body of Alexander Bonnyman Jr. was once declared unrecoverable. But thanks to new technologies a non-profit excavated the remains on Tarawa, a battleground of the pacific theatre.

Bonnyman received the Medal of Honor for leading demolition teams against the Japanese.

His remains are now making its way to the family cemetery in Tennessee where a plot bears his name.
