Public comes out to celebrate BioPark on free zoo day

BioPark Free Day

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – It was a zoo in old town and nearby neighborhoods because of the free zoo day.  The Albuquerque BioPark waived admission fees to celebrate its record setting attendance.

More than 100,238,000 people have visited the Zoo, Aquarium and Botanic Garden since last July. This was an increase of 3,000 people from the year before.

A lot of people took advantage of the free offer.

One father says he doesn’t mind the crowds.

“It’s a good thing for the community to get everyone out here, spend some time at the zoo and get out of the house,” said Glenn Sumpter.

The BioPark has yet to report the number of people that walked through the doors Tuesday.
