Albuquerque residents urged to enjoy local fireworks display

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Despite all the wet weather we’ve had the past few days the risk of fire is still very high across the state. With less than a week away until the Fourth of July the mayor and the Albuquerque Fire Department are encouraging you to enjoy the big, public fireworks displays instead of buying and lighting your own fireworks.

Residents should not have any fireworks louder than a cap gun and no aerials.

AFD says if you do buy fireworks, buy locally to ensure that they are legal. Anyone who is caught with illegal fireworks could be fined up to $500.
